My Dear Children, As long as you live in this house, you will follow the rules. When you have your own home, then you can make your own rules. In this house, we do not have a democracy. You did not vote for me. I did not campaign to be your father. We are father and children by the grace of God, and therefore, I accept that great privilege and awesome responsibility. Our ages are too different. I can not play with you as a pal. We can share many things eventually, but we are not just friends. I am much more than just a friend -- twenty times, a hundred times, what a friend is. I am your father which includes being a friend, but on a level that is entirely different. Therefore, we will do in this house as I say. If you know my intent is dictated by love -- and that you cannot question my intentions because I do love you more than my own life -- then my decisions will not be hard to take, but easier. So know that I love you, and know that my intent is unquestionable. Love, Dad |
